This summer had a first for me…I visited Havana, Cuba! What a treat it was to see a new culture, visit new places and experience the food in Cuba. The people were gracious and warm. I joined women from all over the U.S. who were bonded together to bring good news to women in Havana. We became a team to bring a retreat called “Beauty for Ashes” which is a ministry arm of Adventures in Missions (AIM). This ministry was to help women overcome deep emotional wounds that hinder them from becoming what God destined them to be. A walk through the program brings the women through a difficult time but becomes aware that God was there all the time and loved them deeper than they can imagine.  They reveal through pictures the difficult situations, share with others, while assured they are in a safe place, and eventually learn to forgive.

Once the women expose the deep pain through their pictures and words, it is amazing the healing that takes place. There may be tears, but tears can be cleansing. Wounds that had been scared over on the surface for perhaps many years, are now healing from the inside out. I thank Beauty for Ashes authors for this program and the ability to share this program around the world.

The attached video is a brief view of our time in Cuba. I have to admit, I was very impressed with the old 1950’s classic cars that covered the city. I understand that while they are old on the outside, they have newer engines. Enjoy the video.
